Message from our June 21, 2012 Meeting

  A few quick notes from our meeting this morning:
  • First and foremost, Scott was back and looking good!
  • We did not have a guest speaker today so just chatted about stuff.
  • Don mentioned his upcoming quest for next year's board.  Expressions of interest welcome.  If not, other measures will be taken.  Various committee manuals are available from Don for the various positions.  Scott is willing to take over the treasurer role with one condition - ask John C. what the condition is!)
  • John H. mentioned that CAMH is having an Open House today for the new facility.  (For more details: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2012/06/20/mental-health-camh-youth.html )
  • Hugh mentioned that the first annual Big ShelterBox Week is now over.  We spread the word about ShelterBox through:
    • John H.'s Abbott Street sale;
    • A presentation to the Rotary Club of Toronto Twilight;
    • Robin, John H. and Hugh attended the ShelterBox Open House;
    • Pitching a tent at the Ostend Street Party in Swansea; and 
    • Pitching the tent again on Hugh's front lawn on the last day of the Big Week.  
  • John H., Robin and Hugh are volunteering to host at the ShelterBox tent at Toronto Ribfest.  If you are interested, please speak to Hugh as soon as possible.  Really need help on the Sunday if you're available.
  • The High Park Zoo is saved!
  • If you have a story for the web site, send it on to Hugh.
  • Remember that there is no regular meeting next week, June 28, as we have the year end party at Sunnyside.  (See the related email from Scott or look at the event calendar on the web site for details.)
  • Marty managed to draw his own 50/50 ticket but didn't manage the joker.
