Message from our May 23, 2013 Meeting

At today's meeting:

  • Lisa Chang and Paul Pereira were our visitors today.  
    • Lisa is thinking about rejoining Rotary after being away for 10 years.
    • Paul has been a true "regular" over the past few weeks and could soon be joining us!!
  • Robin announced that Suzanne R. and Arthur have volunteered for the July 1 event in High Park. 
  • Don mentioned passing along informational emails from other clubs such as for the upcoming Rotary golf tournament of Newmarket's.  Check your emails.
  • Speaking of golf, Scott announced that:
    • The push is now on for our August 15th Golf Tournament.  We need to work on sponsors, prizes, and golfers.  The Rotary Club of Brampton Flower City Centennial has committed to recruiting 80 golfers.  As the minimum number required is 120 to make the tournament work, this should not be a problem though we are targeting having a full complement of 144 golfers.  Robin will be coordinating the volunteer effort from across the clubs. Scott will be approaching each of us individually to see what we can each commit to...and then will be following up on our individual delivery!!
    • Speaking of the Rotary Club of Brampton Flower City Centennial, they are recognising Johnny Bower as "Citizen of the Year" at their Presidential Gala on July 11, 2013.  This will be a black tie event at the Mississauga Grand Banquet Hall.  For details, see their web site at www.flowercityrotary.org
  • Danielle announced that preparations are well underway for the Euchre Evening next Thursday, May 30.  If you haven't RSVP'd to Danielle please do so. There will be no breakfast meeting that day!  Food (pizza and salad) is being provided and it's BYOB.  Don't be an early bird and show up before 7 p.m. as Danielle might not be there by then!
  • The balance of the morning meeting was spent doing a quick euchre introduction - led by Danielle.  (Don't worry, you'll get it by the end of next Thursday.)
  • Happy Bucks:
    • Scott for his son's summer playing with the Marlins baseball team in Manitoba!
    • Danielle for her upcoming vacation!
    • Don relieved for his cataract surgery today.
  • Danielle then won the 50/50 draw but not the pot.
