The Rotary Club of Parkdale-High Park - Who we are and What we do
- The Rotary Club of Parkdale-High Park is one of 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and regions, forming a network of community service around the world.
- We are a welcoming, friendly and fun-loving group of men and women from different backgrounds, age groups, cultures and occupations.
- What we share in common is the desire to work on community projects, both at home and abroad, to make our world a better place.
- If you want to be part of a global network of community volunteers, then Rotary is for you.
- We meet Thursday mornings at 7:30 am at the Grenadier Café located in the centre of Toronto's High Park.
Projects and Activities
Locally supported projects include the Fort York Food Bank, Redwood – a shelter for women and their children, and PACT – a youth justice program, as well as the High Park Nature Centre and Zoo.
Internationally we support the eradication of landmines, water and sanitation projects, as well as Rotary’s PolioPlus Program - which has helped to immunize over 2 billion children against the crippling polio virus worldwide.
We are always interested in new ways to serve the community, and build partnerships with other local and international service organizations.
We raise money to support our projects. All of the money collected is used for our community and international projects. No fundraised money is used for administrative or any other club expenses.
Fellowship
Rotary is about more than working hard for our communities. It’s also about promoting fellowship and friendships locally and throughout the world with other community minded people. Wherever they go in the world Rotarians are welcomed by the local Rotary club. In fact Rotarians travelling for business or leisure are encouraged to attend Rotary meetings in the place they are visiting to learn about the local culture and to promote bonds of friendship and understanding across the globe.
While visiting a club in the southern U.S. one of our members found other visiting Rotarians from Alaska, Austria, and Alberta at the same meeting. Other members have been to Rotary meetings in Addis Ababa, Pakistan and Egypt, and have found a warm welcome by fellow Rotarians wherever they’ve gone.
Imagine what you can do
Imagine the power of being part of an organization, to which Bill Gates donated 255 million dollars for just one of its many international undertakings.
Imagine an organization that welcomes you as a friend and colleague anywhere in the world.
Imagine an organization that thinks and acts both locally and globally.
Imagine you being part of this organization... being a member of the Rotary Club of Parkdale-High Park.
